Subject: Amazon’s Indian sellers grow global business by 200%
BENGALURU: Showing a clear intent to push its global selling business from Indian merchants, Amazon has now opened the Australian market for local sellers. With the addition of Australia, Indian merchants can now sell to 11 international markets, including the US, Canada and Europe.

Globally, cross-border sales by small-and medium-sized businesses on Amazon grew more than 50% last year, with Indian sellers clocking 200% growth, Eric L Broussard, Amazon VP and head (international seller services), said.

Around 32,000 Indian vendors are now selling in the top global markets of Amazon. Last year, the Seattle-based firm launched its wholesale business — Amazon Business — here, and more recently kicked off its global business-to-business (B2B) selling programme for Indian exporters after running a seven-month pilot. About 60 Indian sellers have access to the Australian market and now the company plans to scale it rapidly by opening it to a broader set of merchants.

“There is a strong demand for Indian products worldwide,” Broussard said.
