Indian rupee strengthens 5 paise at 66.98 against US dollar in early trade |
Indian rupee continued its gaining spree on Friday and was trading 5 paise up at 66.98 (9.23 am) against the US dollar at Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market as American currency fell against other emerging currencies amid selling by bankers and exporters.
The local currency opened flat and gained 1 paise at 67.04 against the dollar. It had closed 10 paise up at 67.04 per dollar .
Domestic equity indices opened flat on Friday tracking globalc ues. The BSE Sensex opened 24.25 points up at 28232.87, while Nifty 50 index opened 2 points up at 8668.30.
The American currency fell against yen on Friday after the Bank of Japan’s stimulus fell short of market expectations.
