Adani plans Rs 20k crore clean energy park in Mundra |
Adani Group plans to set up an Integrated Renewable Energy Park at Mundra in Kutch district, close to its port and SEZ. The park, if it comes into existence, would be the first of its kind and will need an investment of Rs 20,000 crore. With this the company aims to venture into the complete chain of solar power generation and other renewable energy sources.
Group chairman Gautam Adani along with his top executives, on Thursday, met chief secretary DJ Pandian and other senior secretaries of the state and made a detailed presentation on the project.
Sources close to the development said that the company proposes to invest around Rs 20,000 crore in the Integrated Renewable Energy Park. "Other private firms will also invest in the park. The company will develop ready-to-plug-in facility as well as manufacture cells, wafers, panels, and power transmission equipment," a source said.
The group also plans to set up around 4,000MW solar power generation facility. "The firm wants around 20,000 acres of new land from the government for developing the solar power generation park," the source said.
"The company has demanded concession in VAT on the products manufactured in the park, exemption in duty on electricity, waiver of stamp duty and registration fees. It has also sought the status of ultra mega project and other financial incentives. The company plans to rope in a foreign firm as tech nology partner," said a senior officials.
He further said that the state government has sought further details from the company for the proposed plan for the park."There are several policy issues where the central government comes into the picture, such as transmission network for transfer of power. All these issues will need to be addressed," said the official.
