Three held for defrauding a paper manufacturer in Jaipur |
Jaipur: Muhana police on Thursday arrested three persons for defrauding a city-based handmade paper items manufacturer by preparing documents that showed him as a security guard at his own company and submitting them to the United States custom and border protection department to get an import permit. The trio including a couple allegedly went to the extent of bringing two officials of US customs department to Jaipur to examine premises of victim's firm in Muhana's Keshyawala area to get the permit. Since the victim Sitaram Sharam didn't know English, they allegedly told the US examiners that he was a security guard at the company.
According to the FIR registered with the police, one Gautam Singh and his wife Neelam Singh defrauded Sitaram in connivance with the latter's accountant Suresh Sharma. The trio was arrested on Thursday. The FIR said that Gautam and Neelam ran an export company, but they didn't have a manufacturing unit, so they started doing business with Sitaram in 2012. They would export handmade paper items manufactured by Sitaram's company.
"I am not much educated. The couple had an export company, but to get an export license for exporting items to the US, they needed their own manufacturing unit. What they did is they showed my company as their own and submitted fraudulent documents to US custom and border protection department, and India's ministry of external affairs," said Sitaram.
