Stats & Compilation Process - Indian Export Import Trade Data

Indian Export Import Trade Data - access more then 149.58 Million records online !

Exim Guru collects, collates and standardizes more then 20 lakhs (2.0 Million) Export Shipping Bills and Import Bills of Entry every month from Indian Ports.

The data is collected, cleaned and converted in RDBMS Format ( Relation Data Base Management System) and stored in Microsoft SQL Server Database : India Export Import Trade Data.

Indian Export Import Trade Data covers Indian foreign trade with over 200 countries around the world and represents transactions of over 2,00,000 Indian Exporters Importers.

With Online data since January 1st, 2003, India Export Import Trade Data provides organizations complete access to current and historical trade data.

The number of Records collected from Indian Customs, Ports based on Bills of Entry and Invoices have now crossed over 8 Crores (100 Millions).

Archive data from 1998 onwards as well as bulk current data is also available CDs from Exim Guru Consulting Group.

Value Addition - Indian Export Import Trade Data

What Value Addition Exim Guru makes ?

Addition of Address , Email , Tel , Contact Person of Indian Companies.

Earlier the data contained Names but not complete address or contact information. Indian Govt has stopped release of Names in India Trade data since 2004. However sometimes ports to release data with names.

Exim Guru with the help of Indian Company profiles databases maintained by it, adds other important details like Address , Email , Tel , Contact Persons of Indian Companies wherever possible on best effort basis.

Exim Guru is also fighting a legal battle and lobbying with members of trade to secure release of Names under Freedom of Information Act as release of Names is very important for transparency and growth of Indian Foreign Trade.

You may send a Petition to concerned authorities at www.dailylistusers.org a Association of Indian Trade Data users to voice your opinion.

Addition of Indian Harmonized Code Descriptions

Exim Guru maintains a daily updated Indian Harmonized Code Database, with the help of this data Exim Guru Team adds the “Standard HS Description”.

In Indian Export Import Data the “Actual product description” and HS Code often varies and classification is often wrong, due to poor control at the time of submission of documents by Indian Exporters Importers and hence Exim Guru adds the Indian Harmonized Code Descriptions to highlight the anomalies.

Note :We do not change or try to classify the HS Codes or actual descriptions. This feature is not available online yet.

Addition of Indian Import Duty , Indian DEPB Rates , Duty Drawback Rates , HS Codes live Links.

Exim Guru maintains a daily updated and online Indian Import Duty, Duty Drawback, DEPB Rates and Indian Harmonized Code Database, and with the help of this data Exim Guru Team adds Live online links to see the corresponding rates in the data.

This completely reduces the need to “search” additional information as & when needed.

Note : This feature is not available online yet.

Addition of Indian Import Duty Rates.

Exim Guru calculates and adds “ Applicable Custom duty “ from the Indian Import Duty databases in Indian Import Data.

Since Indian Customs follows any General Exemptions and Notifications apart from prescribed rate of duty, “Applicable Custom Duty” could be different from “Actual Custom Duty” charged.

However it is seen that it is same in 90% cases.

Addition of Value in US Dollars

India data contains value in Indian Rupees and it is difficult to calculate the prices as the exchange rates prescribed by Indian Customs are different from market exchange rates.

To resolve this problem , Exim Guru converts the value in US Dollars as prescribed during the date of transaction by Indian Customs.

Time Lag - Indian Export Import Trade Data

The data is uploaded on a daily basis to provide customers data on near “real-time“ on best effort basis as there are still problems in getting timely data updates from Indian Govt authorities.

Exim Guru still manages to provide data with a time lag of 10 days to 20 days at the end of each month, compared to other sources like DGCIS and Ministry of Commerce which still take around 3 months to 6 months.

Authenticity, Accuracy , and Completeness - Indian Export Import Trade Data

    Authenticity

Exim Guru does not tamper with the data. Data is 100% authentic and “as released” by Indian Govt.

    Accuracy

Import Data has been noted to show sometimes problems in valuations and Exim Guru does takes up such issues with Govt Authorities.

    Completeness

We do find that Data is not 100% complete. In Imports the coverage is better, around 90% to 95%, probably as Indian Govt gets Customs Duty from Imports.

In Exports the coverage is little less, probably around 85%.

The percentage of lost data varies time to time. It also depends from Port to Port. In Ports where  EDI systems are in place, coverage is better.

With planned computerization of all ports by Govt of India, we look forward to overcome such problems in future.
