Anti-Dumping Duty Imposed on Import of Caustic Soda.

Date: 27-08-2011
Subject: Anti-Dumping Duty Imposed on Import of Caustic Soda
In order to protect the domestic industry, the Government of India has imposed anti-dumping duty on import of caustic soda.

A notification issued by the Department of Customs states that caustic soda originating in, or exported from, Thailand, Taiwan and Norway and imported into India, have been found to be below their normal value, causing material injury to the domestic industry.

To protect the domestic industry from the effects caused by the dumped imports from these three countries, a definitive anti-dumping duty has been imposed on the imports of caustic soda, originating in, or exported from, these countries, the notification adds.

An anti-dumping duty at a rate of USD 379 per dry metric ton (DMT) has been imposed on caustic soda originating in, or exported from Thailand and Norway, while the rate would be USD 361 per DMT on caustic soda originating in, or exported from Taiwan.

The anti-dumping duty imposed shall be levied for a period of five years, unless revoked, superseded or amended earlier, and shall be payable in Indian currency.
