Anti-dumping Duty on CD-Rs to Continue.

Date: 17-11-2011
Subject: Anti-dumping Duty on CD-Rs to Continue
New Delhi: India has decided to continue the anti-dumping duty on imports of compact disc-recordables (CD-Rs) from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Chinese Taipei.

The levy imposed by the Finance Ministry in June 2007 would continue till October next year, the Department of Revenue said in a notification.

"This notification, unless revoked earlier, shall remain in force up to and inclusive of the October 3, 2012," it said.

The decision comes following a review carried out by the Commerce Ministry's Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties on continuation of the duty on the product in October this year.

The levy would range between USD 0.05 and 0.09 per piece. CD-R used in writing and reading information, retains a high level of compatibility with standard CD readers, but cannot be rewritten.

In 2007, the duty was imposed as it was found that the goods had entered the Indian market at prices less than their normal value; the domestic industry had suffered material injury both by volume and price effect of dumped imports.

The duty is recommended by the Commerce Ministry while the Finance Ministry imposes it.
