India mulls anti-dumping duty on chemical's import from China.

Date: 15-01-2011
Subject: India mulls anti-dumping duty on chemical's import from China
The government is looking forward to put anti-dumping duty upto $236 per tonne, which will be levied on the chemical imports. The chemical which is imported is utilised in the making of bricks, ceramics and tiles and etc and this imposition of duty is being done because the government wants to protect the domestic industry from the Chinese shipments running really cheap.

It has been found and mentioned by the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) in its findings about the fact that the chemicals imported from China include 'Barium Carbonate' which is bought in a price lower than its normal value.

"the Authority (DGAD) is of the view that imposition of definitive duty is required to offset the dumping and injury," DGAD said.

"The duty would range between USD 236 and USD 76 per tonne," it said.

A probe in regard with the dumping of the chemical import from China was implemented by the DGAD after a lot of complaints were filed from the side of domestic industry.

An anti dumping probe is generaly suggested by the country just to keep the check on its domestic industries which might get effected due to the trade of the cheap imports.
