Export of herbal products from India increased to Rs570.8 crore in 2009-10, from Rs306.3 crore in 2005-06, recording a compounded annual growth rate of 16.8 per cent, minister of state for commerce and industry Jyotiraditya M Scindia informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply today.

USA, Pakistan, Germany, Japan, the UK, Spain, China, France, Vietnam, Mexico, were the top ten export destinations for India's herbal exports over the last three years, the minister said quoting figures from Pharmexcil research data.

USA remained the top export destination for herbal product exports from India. Herbal product exports to that country stood at Rs202.4 crore in 2001-08, Rs250.3 crore in 2008-09 and Rs203.7 crore in 2019-10 and constituted 35.7 per cent of the country's total herbal exports in 2009-10.

Exports to Pakistan, the second largest market for Indian herbal products, which stood at Rs42 crore in 2007-08, rose to Rs48.1 crore in 2008-09 and further to Rs60.7 crore in 2009-10 and constituted 10.6 per cent of India's total herbal exports in 2009-10.

Herbal exports to Germany stood at Rs27.7 crore in 2007-08, Rs35.1 crore in 2008-09 and Rs32.9 crore in 2009-10, constituting 5.8 per cent of India's total herbal exports in 2009-10.

UK remained the fifth largest overseas market for Indian herbal products with exports worth Rs16.6 crore in 2007-08, Rs22 crore in 2008-09 and Rs14.4 crore in 2009-10. UK had a 2.5 per cent share in the country's total herbal exports in 2009-10.
