Subject: India's Oilmeal Export Gains 14% In August 2010 - SEA
The Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA ) has released the export data of oilmeals for the month of August, 2010. The oilmeal exports during August 2010 was reported at 244,075 tons compared to 214,807 tons in August 2009, up by 14%. However, the overall export of oilmeals for April- August 2010 reported at 1,021,957 tons compared to 1,002,664 tons, gained marginally by 2%.

Strong Recovery Seen From July

SEA mentioned that in the first three months export of oilmeals has witnessed constant decline, but some growth was seen in after July. The export of oilmeals in July was seen at 241,182 tons and in August at 244,075 tons, up compared to 173,329&214,807 tons, up 98% and 14% respectively.

Robust Gains Seen In Soyameal

The total exports of soyameal have only reported the strong gains of over 19% during April August period to 5,62,009 tonnes while some decline seen in other oilmeals such as castor meal (0.16%) and rapeseed meal (17%).

Steady Demand Witnesses From Japan

Oilmeal import by SouthKorea from India during April-August 2010 reported at 155,893 tons compared to 160,316 tons, China reported import of 176,261 tons compared to 156,892 tons of last year, Japan reported import of 265,264 tons compared to 113,763 tons last year and Vietnam imported of 145,208 tons compared to 269,328 tons last year.

Strong Volume Seen From Kandla Port

The export from Kandla is reported at 469,900 tons (46%), followed by Mumbai including JNPT which handled 328,395 tons (32%), Mundra handled 155,978 tons (15%), Kolkata handled 41,450 tons (4%), Bedi handled 18,800 tons (2%) and Bhavnagar handled 7,434 tons (1%).
