Indian Coffee Prices Ease .

Coffee prices in India declined at this week’s auction on lack of interest from exporters, traders said.

Arabica Plantation AA grade sold at current prices while there were no takers A and B grades at the asked prices.

“All varieties of coffees on offer received enquiry only from the domestic trade,” said J Thomas and Company, the acutioneer in a statement.

The Karnataka Planters Association, a trade body, estimates post harvest arabica crop not to exceed 80,000 tonnes as adverse weather affected production.

The world’s fifth biggest producer accounts for only 4.5 percent of the world’s coffee, but exports 70-80 percent of its output. Italy, Russia and Germany are the top three buyers of Indian coffee.
