Subject: India-Israel working on Free Trade Agreement
India-Israel bilateral trade has grown up from a mere 200 million dollars in 1992 to 4.4 billion dollars in 2012. The two countries are working on a Free Trade Agreement, FTA to give impetus to the trade and commerce ties.

The bilateral trade and commerce ties is set to get a boost with the upcoming visit of a high level FICCI delegation to Telaviv beginning Saturday.

The five-day visit of business delegation to Israel from July 27-31 is aimed at increasing the market access of Indian products and technologies and explore the emerging investment opportunities.

Ahead of the visit, the Head of the Israel division of FICCI, Sandip Samaddar told AIR that the focus areas are Agriculture & Water Management, Homeland Security, IT&IT enabled services and Chemicals & allied products.

He said that the two countries have ample opportunities of cooperation with an eye at the global market. India is a fast-growing economy with a strong consumer base and manufacturing capabilities.

Israel has intrinsic strengths in product development and technological innovations. The delegation will provide a platform and opportunity to explore synergies & joint venture possibilities between Indian and Israeli companies.

The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv, the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEICI) and Israel Asia Chamber of Commerce are partnering with FICCI to organize Business to Business meetings and field visits locally.
