Rupee falls 12 paise against US dollar to 55.66 |

Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Tuesday. Rupee was down by 12 paise or 0.22% against USD to Rs 55.66 compared to previous close of 55.54 (09.23 a.m.).
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.13% to 80.14 (22:42 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.29 up 0.05% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 81.98 down 0.13% (22:54 ET).
''We expect Indian rupee to be strong today as stronger Euro internationally and profit booking can initiate sell.
However, India's deficit woes and month end dollar buying from oil refineries can support the prices,'' said Emkay Global Financial Services.
At 09.25 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 155.17 points or 0.84% at 18,692.18 with 30 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 45.95 points or 0.82% at 5,681.85 with 49 components gaining.
