Rupee falls 7 paise against US dollar to 54.64 |

Indian rupee declined against the greenback in morning trade on Tuesday. Rupee was down by 7 paise or 0.12% against USD to Rs 54.64 compared to previous close of 54.57 (09.24 a.m.).
At 09.28 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 0.89 points or 0.00% at 18,761.98 with 14 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 3.45 points or 0.06% at 5,707.65 with 28 components gaining.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.08% to 80.68 (22:46 ET).
USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 80.11 down 0.22% (22:54 ET).
USDINR rallied on Monday and settled at 54.63 levels. For the day spot prices could extend its gains towards 54.90 levels. Any intraday declines can be ruled out towards 54.50 or 54.28 levels, said Emkay Global Financial Services.
