BHATINDA: Adani Group’s made in India solar modules and solar photo-voltaic cells prices will be around 10-12 per cent higher than the imported versions available in the market, Adani Group Renewable Energy Business CEO Jayant Parimal told ET. The Group is set to commence manufacturing facility of the solar equipment of 1200 MW by December this year at Mundra.

“The manufacturing will definitely begin by December this year and the company will first install them at NTPC project in Andhra Pradesh,” Parimal told ET while inaugurating the country’s largest 100 MW tracker based solar power plant entailing investment of Rs 640 crore in Bhatinda. Made in India solar equipment will be installed in category of projects falling in Domestic Content Requirement tendered by the Government of India, he said.

Parimal said that solar tariffs could fall below coal based tariffs in three-four years in the country. He said that the Group is targeting 10 per cent market share of 1.6 lakh MW capacity projected to be achieved by 2022. “The company focus on the Renewable Project Obligations projects as the opportunities are optimum,” he said. He said that the company is not planning to investment in solar projects beyond RPO for the time being.

The Punjab project has enhanced Adani Group’s total commissioned capacity of solar energy to 800MW. “Given the extent of projects in pipeline the commissioned capacity is expected to reach 2100 MW by September 2017,” he said.
