Govt extends anti-dumping duty on Korea's acrylonitrile butadiene rubber imports.

Date: 06-01-2009
Subject: Govt extends anti-dumping duty on Korea's acrylonitrile butadiene rubber imports
India has extended anti-dumping duty on acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) imports from Korea for another year. This is even as it has removed
the duty from such imports from Germany.

The duty was first imposed in 2002.

The Central Board of Excise and Customs has issued a notification in this regard.
"There is no reason for continuation of existing anti dumping measures on exports of NBR from Germany into India. There is a strong likelihood of exports of NBR from Korea RP into India continuing at dumped prices leading to consequential injury to the domestic industry and injury to domestic industry is likely to continue or recur if the duties are either revoked or reduced in respect of imports from Korea," the notification said.

The notification follows a recommendation by the Directorate General of Anti-dumping and allied Duties which had initiated a review into the anti-dumping duty on NBR imports from these countries.

As per the notification, while anti-dumping duty on NBR imports from LG chemicals and Korea Kumho Petrochemicals Co Ltd (KKPC) will $38.73 per Metric Tonne, imports from any other Korean company will attract duty of $ 362.75 per MT.
