Subject: India levies anti-dumping duty on Chinese yarns, fabrics
Apr. 1, 2009 (China Knowledge) - India has levied anti-dumping duty of up to US$527 per ton on yarns and fabrics from China, Thailand and Vietnam to guard domestic industries against cheap imports, according to a notification by the Indian Central Board of Excise and Customs issued on Friday.

The notification said the anti-dumping duty will remain effective until Sept. 25.

It is reported earlier that Indian has imposed anti-dumping duty of up to US$4 per meter on flax fabric from mainland China and Hong Kong. Earlier last week, it levied another safeguard duty of up to 35% on some of Chinese aluminum products.

Earlier this month the Indian government signed an order to lift the ban on imports of Chinese toys, under pressure from indignant toy dealers claiming to be in danger of going out of business, according to China Knowledge's earlier report.

India's trade protectionism measures have aroused deep concern from China. Last week, A delegation from Chinese Ministry of Commerce visited India to discuss with their Indian counterparts on the solutions to the trade disputes between the two countries.
