Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 157.7 points down at 16058.3 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Arshiya, Vikas Proppant & Gr, Suumaya Lifestyle NSE -4.91 %, Sintex Plastics Tech NSE -4.29 % and DRC Systems India NSE -2.30 % Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 7 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 43 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, NTPC, Shree Cements NSE 0.16 %, Adani Ports
SEZ NSE -0.22 %, Bharti Airtel NSE 0.60 % and Coal India Ltd NSE 0.16 % were among top gainers during the day, while Eicher Motors NSE 0.28 %,
Traders piled up positions in Telecommunications, General, Power, Sugar and Rubber sectors, while selling was witnessed in Engineering, Tourism & Hospitality, Media & Entertainment, Auto Ancillaries and Gas & Petroleum sectors during the day.
