Subject: Australian trade body expands network
Keeping in view the increasing India-Australia trade prospects, the Australian Trade Commission is increasing its network of representative offices as well as expanding the strength of existing offices in India. “We are now expanding our network into tier-II cities such as Ahmedabad, Kochi, Pune, Jaipur and others. We are also increasing our strength in Kolkata office,” Mr Michael Carter, Trade Commissioner of the Australian Trade Commission in India, told newspersons here today. According to him, India is currently the fourth largest trading partner of Australia. With increasing trade volume, including 75 per cent resource-based trade, India would soon be the third largest trading partner of the country. Mr Carter was hopeful that the ongoing free trade negotiations between the two countries would take shape in due course of time. The commission, along with the Australian government, organised a meeting in Kolkata to attract investment. The meeting showcased the success of Gujarat NRE Coke in Australia.
