Date: 17-01-2011
Subject: Government starts anti-dumping probe into aniline imports
An initiation has been done by India to investigate into the alleged unloading of the aniline done by the European Union countries. Aniline is the name given to a chemical which mainly comes in usage of the pharmaceutical industry.

This probe has been started by th Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD), which is an authority designated under the Commerce Ministry. An application was filed by the Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers Company Ltd and on that basis this investogation is being proceeded.

"The authority (DGAD) hereby initiates an investigation into the alleged dumping and consequent injury to the domestic industry...To determine the effect of dumping and to recommend the amount of anti-dumping duty. To remove the injury," the Commerce Ministry said in a notification.

"The injury investigation period will, however, cover the period 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09," it said.

This probe is being undertaken by the countries just to analyse whether due to the cheap imports their domestic industries went through any sort of negative impact or not.

This anti-dumping duty also makes sure that the trading practices are done on a fair ground or not and thus it will end up setting a good level in the industry for the domestic producers and in the same way the foreign producers and exporters will also get a fair and competitive market to trade.
