National Manufacturing Policy before cabinet in 2 weeks.

The concerned ministries are giving final touches to the proposed National Manufacturing Policy and it will be presented to the cabinet within two weeks, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said on Wednesday.

"Some fine tuning that is required with different ministries will be completed within the next 10 days. Then we will circulate cabinet note on the National Manufacturing Policy," Sharma, who was given additional charge of the textiles ministry in Tuesday's reshuffle, said after meeting an industry delegation here.

Sharma said a committee of secretaries led by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister T.K.A. Nair was looking into the matter.

"I am sure that the other meetings which will take place within the next 10 days will help us in bringing this to a successful conclusion," he said.

A high level committee on manufacturing headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last month cleared the draft of the National Manufacturing Policy that aims to increase the share of manufacturing in the country's GDP from the present 16 percent to 25 percent by 2025.

According to government estimates the new policy would help create nearly 100 million jobs by 2025.
