US Commerce Dept to Take Trade Mission to India in Feb Next |

WASHINGTON: Encouraged by job-generating trip of President Barack Obama to Mumbai and New Delhi early this month, US Commerce Department will take a high-level trade delegation to India in early February next year.
"We're actually following up with another trade mission in early February, focusing on technology, high- technology goods from medical equipment to energy, helping American companies sell more of their made-in USA-goods and services to India," US Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said.
Locke, who was part of the presidential delegation when Obama visited India, termed the visit highly successful.
"The recent trip to India was a great success, so the President was able to announce over USD 10 billion in sales of US goods and services of export content here in the US -- that is, over USD 10 billion of made-in-USA goods and services to India -- and creating over 50,000 or supporting 50,000 jobs here in America," Locke said in response to a question during a web-chat yesterday.
