Subject: ET Global Business Summit 2017: 300 delegates from 20 nations to attend event
NEW DELHI: A large contingent of international delegates will mark their presence at the third edition of the Global Business Summit presented by YES BankBSE 0.88 % and The Economic Times on March 27-28, 2017 in New Delhi.

With more than 300 delegates from 20 countries, the international participation is set to top last year’s record turnout. This year sizeable delegations from countries such as Australia, China, Russia, Canada, South Africa, the UK, Israel and UAE will add to the global appeal of the event. The last two editions of the Global Business Summit has seen 2,000 high-profile delegates discuss and debate various issues related to business and the economy.

This year’s Global Business Summit has attracted an enviable roster of delegates from across the globe, including Peter G Hall, vice-president and chief economist – Export Development Canada; Vimal Shah, chief executive officer – BIDCO (Africa); Marco Gloria, chairman and CEO – GFB (Mexico); Benny Landa, an industry pioneer from Israel with over 800 patents to his credit and Avi Luvton, director of Innovation Authority in Israel.

Given the rising importance of regional trade, a big contingent of senior government and business leaders from India's neighbouring countries will also be actively looking for collaboration and investment avenues.

In a first, leaders from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand will be hosted onsite at the summit through The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) mission. Influential leaders from participating countries like U Aung Naing Oo, secretary, Myanmar Investment Commission; governor Samuel Kuntai Ole Tunai, Narok County, Kenya; Sajith Premadasa, minister for housing and construction, Sri Lanka and Jesús Farías, minister of people’s power for foreign trade and investment, Venezuela, will be present.

With India promoting BIMSTEC as a strategic initiative, the summit will provide an ideal platform for discussions around increasing regional trade and co-operation. During the various sessions, the BIMSTEC mission will do a deep dive into stumbling blocks that hinder regional collaboration with the aim of finding workable solutions.

In another session, Israel will showcase its innovative success stories through strategic roundtables. A key theme for the large African delegation will be discussions on untapped potential in Africa that will be led by very senior leaders from each of the participating countries.

In the recent past, the Modi government has launched a slew of schemes to increase India’s share in global trade. As India Inc looks at expanding its footprint in regional as well as global trade, platforms like YES Bank and The Economic Times Global Business Summit will play a catalysing role in bringing together the right partnerships.
