Subject: Indian individuals, entities slapped with fresh US sanctions
Several Indian individuals and entities have been slapped with sanctions by the US over involvement in sales Iran’s petroleum and petroleum products, news agency PTI reported on November 21.

According to Trump administration, the proceeds from this trade have aided Tehran’s regional terrorist proxies in buying weapons that are “a direct threat” to the US.

The entities placed under the latest sanctions by the US Departments of State and Treasury include shipping networks, and an airline and its affiliates.

The shipping networks are responsible for funding the Iranian regime’s “malign activities” through illicit oil sales, and the airline and its affiliates are helping Iran-backed terrorist groups get weapons, the department said.

The sanction list is known as the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control Specially Designated Nationals List.
Indian nationals affected by the latest measures are: Zair Husain Iqbal Husain Sayed and Zulfikar Hussain Rizvi Sayed. The sanctioned Indian entities are: Maharashtra-based RN Ship Management Private Limited and Pune-based TR6 Petro India LLP.

In all, 17 entities, individuals and vessels from a number of countries were sanctioned by the State Department. These also include some entities from Panama and the Seychelles.

Those sanctioned by the Treasury Department include 41 entities, individuals, vessels and aircraft. All this is part of an intensifying effort against Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical exports aimed at disrupting financial streams and commercial operatives that support Iran’s "malign activities".

The State Department said on Thursday that revenue from Iran’s oil trade is being channelled into financing Tehran’s regional militant proxies and acquiring weapons systems that endanger US forc ..

According to the administration, TR6 Petro -- a petroleum products trader based in India -- brought in more than $8 million worth of Iranian-origin bitumen between October 2024 and June 2025 from several suppliers.

The company is being sanctioned for knowingly carrying out a major transaction involving the purchase, acquisition, sale, transport or marketing of Iranian petroleum or petroleum products, the State Department said.

It noted that Iran’s leadership continues to stoke conflict across the Middle East to sustain its destabilising operations. Such activities allow Tehran to advance its nuclear ambitions, fund terrorist organisations and interfere with global trade routes and key waterways essential to worldwide economic stability, it further said.

The United States will keep targeting the network of maritime service companies, “dark fleet” operators and petroleum traders involved in moving Iranian crude and petroleum products, the statement added.
