KOCHI: Leading global manufacturer of bathroom products Roca Bathroom Products Pvt. Ltd. is planning to make India as an export base leveraging on the comparatively lower production cost.
Roca the 100 year old Spanish company which currently owns Parryware brand of sanitary ware of India has eight factories in the country. `` We have started exports in a small way and we intend to scale it up in the coming years,’’ said K E Ranganathan, MD of Roca Bathroom Products Pvt Ltd, who was in Kochi to inaugurate Roca and Parryware Display studio.
Roca has 78 factories in 170 locations spread across five continents. He said Roca is currently the market leader in bathroom products in India with about 37% share. `` Our aim is to touch 40% share by 2020,’’ he said.
Ranganathan said the consumer taste has changed in the recent times . `` There is a shift to branded products from unbranded ones after demonetisation and launch of GST. The consumers are also looking at products that conserve water and good after sales service.’’
He said South India is a strong market for the country. The company has 600 showrooms in Kerala. The company intends to start two display studios a year in other parts of the country.
