Mumbai: Vodafone Idea (Vi) said it has accelerated network investments as it prepares for wider 5G expansion and a stronger digital services push in 2026.
The company has added a significant number of towers nationwide to enhance coverage and capacity, rolled out 5G services in 29 cities, and initiated the next phase of expansion to more locations, CEO Abhijit Kishore said in a New Year letter to customers.
"Vi has launched 5G in 29 cities and has now commenced the next phase of expansion to bring 5G to many more cities nationwide, while continuing to strengthen our Al-based self-optimised 4G network," Kishore wrote in the letter.
Vi said it has also sharpened its focus on customer safety and value-added services. Its AI-powered Vi Protect platform has identified and flagged over 250 crore spam messages and voice calls, helping curb fraud and cyber threats.
The telco has introduced International Call Display and Calling Name Presentation (CNAP), allowing users to see caller names even if they are not saved in contacts, and a forex card for international roaming with no additional foreign exchange charges, accepted ..
The company has also launched an industry-first handset loss insurance programme, offering coverage of up to ₹25,000 through a fully digital, recharge-linked claims process.
