Subject: EODB: No physical copy of SEZ shipping bills required for claiming benefits under MEIS
New Delhi, Mar 26 (KNN) Stepping up ease of doing business environment, the processing of Merchandise Export from India Scheme (MEIS) application for SEZ exports has been simplified.

Now the physical copy of SEZ shipping bills is not required to be submitted for claiming benefits under MEIS.

According to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the objective behind this is to impose EODB, simplifying the procedures and cutting down delays.

Currently, if an application is filed for exports made through EDI ports, then the RAs shall not ask for any physical document except the hard copy of certain documents including applications to DGFT, EDI shipping bills etc.

Now, under the amended rule, if an application is filed for exports made through EDI ports including SEZ exports, then the RAs shall not ask for any physical document except under the provision of Para 3.01 (h) of Handbook of Procedure 2015-20.

The hard copy of documents that are not required to be submitted now are – applications to DGFT, EDI/ SEZ shipping bills, electronic bank realization certification (e-BRC) and RCMC.

However, the notification said that the proof of landing shall be submitted in the manner prescribed under para 3.03 of HBP.

Further, in case of applications filed for exports through non-EDI ports (other that SEZs), the applicant needs to submit export promotion copy of non-EDI shipping bills.

The applicants, in this case also, do not need to submit a hard copy of applications to DGFT, e-BRC, and RCMC
