2nd Food & Agri Exporters Conclave in Delhi |
Globally changing food consumption patterns and growing demand for value added food has created exciting opportunities for processed food & agricultural exporters. According to APEDA (Agricultural Export Development of India), the value of last three years of India's food & agri products export is Rs 350 billion. This sector has opened up vast avenues in the emerging markets like Confederation of Independent States (CIS), Gulf, African, Latin American and Oceanic countries. As per the Government of India statistics, the value of Indian exports to the CIS countries has increased three fold in the last five years and now stands at $ 307 million.
Comparing the huge potential of India as a supplier of these products, Indian exporters still have miles to go. This is mainly because the exporters in developing countries like India face several constraints related to increasingly stringent food safety standards, imposition of technical barriers to trade, etc. This is the time when Indian food & agri exporters must shift their focus from traditional markets to the other emerging economies so as to acquire a competitive edge in the global market and to build up consumer confidence in their products.
Therefore, by organising the 2nd Food & Agri Exporters Conclave, Assocham is taking a step to synergise collaborative efforts among the stakeholders / exporters to deliberate on the issues & challenges.
The event which will be organised on February 8, 2011, at ASSOCHAM House, New Delhi, will address focus areas like global scenario of food-agri exports & identification of business opportunities, supply chain management, logistic hurdles and managements and quality parameters, food safety and standards. The participants' profile includes food processing and agri companies, dairy products, confectionery, beverages, fresh fruits & vegetables, organic products, tea, coffee, spices, honey, floriculture, cereals and refrigeration, packaging and cold chain solutions.
