Minister for textiles Shankersinh Vaghela dedicated Apparel House, the headquarter of Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) here, to the nation.

Among those present on the occasion were joint secretary J.N. Singh, AEPC chairman Rakesh Vaid, secretary general Vimal Kirti Singh, director general for education and training initiatives Darlie Koshy, foundation committee chairman Virender Uppal, chairman of Apparel House Management Committee H.K.L. Magu and other top Indian garment exporters.

Apparel House is a hub for leading manufacturers, exporters, and suppliers displaying the trendiest collections all through the year. Buyers from all across the world can meet sellers at permanent showrooms and source their products.

Spread over two lakh square feet in five acres of land, Apparel House has a total of 250 permanent showrooms, an exhibition complex, conference rooms, an auditorium, an art gallery, a travel desk, a bank and fine dining facilities.

It is located near the Indira Gandhi International Airport along the national expressway in vicinity of several spas and hotels. The architectural marvel stands as a landmark in sector 44 amid finest corporate addresses in the national capital region.

Under its education initiative, the AEPC operates 47 Apparel Training and Design Centres (ATDCs) across the country – 18 in southern region, 12 in north, nine in east and eight in west.

Over 48,000 personnel have already been trained so far,
Besides, the Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) prepares industry-ready merchandisers, export managers, fashion coordinators, designers and the like for rapidly-growing export and domestic sectors which are now beginning to interface as part of the global supply chain.

The AEPC has over 8,000 small, medium and large exporters as its members. India exported apparels worth 9.7 billion dollars in 2007-08 and ranks sixth among top exporters worldwide.
