Carpet Exporters Eye $10mn Business From Turkey Fair |

The world’s second largest and Turkey’s largest carpet expo is set to commence at the CNR Expo Center from May 18 and would go on till May 22, 2011.
Around 14 carpet exporters, including the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) have confirmed their participation in the fair.
Many of these participants who had participated in the fair in the past, bagged bulk orders from Turkey, and hence are expecting a positive response from the fair this time too.
Indian carpet exporters participating in the expo are likely to grab orders around US $9-10 million.
The DC (Handicrafts) under the Ministry of Textiles has funded 75 percent of the participation fees, pursuant to which the exporters are now required to spend only Rs. 30,000 instead of Rs. 200,000 for setting up a stall at the fair.
India’s carpet exports soared by 24 percent to $653 million during 2010-11 over the previous fiscal year, while the target for the 2011-12 fiscal has been fixed at $800 million.
