Maharashtra Mills Contract Less Than Half Of Export Allocation So Far |
Mills in India's top sugar producing state of Maharashtra have contracted to export only about 75,000 tonnes of white sugar out of their total 162,000-tonne quota so far, said Prakash Naiknavare, managing director of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation Ltd.
He added that the cooperative mills had some problems to apply for licences due to procedural delays, but the Food Ministry's recent extension when applying for export permits by 15 days would help mills to complete their export quotas.
