Coffee Exports Up Over 50% At 42,611 t in April |
Coffee exports jumped by 50.40% in April this year to 42,611 tonne, buoyed by robust global demand.
Shipments of the product stood at 28,332 tonne in the year-ago period, according to the latest data released by the Coffee Board of India.
Total export value realisation jumped over two-fold to $125.58 million in April, 2011, from $55.81 million in the year-ago period.
Export earnings in rupee terms in the period under review also rose more than two-fold to R554.80 crore from R264.81 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The per tonne value realisation for coffee was higher in April, 2011, at R1,30,201/tonne, compared to R93,466/tonne in the year-ago period.
Exports of the brew rose by 46.13% to 1,44,383 tonne in the first four months of the current year from 98,801 tonne in the year-ago period.
The total value earned in US dollars more than doubled to $442.50 million between January, 2011, to April, 2011, compared to $211.30 million in the corresponding period of the previous year, the data said.
The export earnings in rupee terms also more than doubled in the period under review to R2,041.36 crore from R1,005.88 crore in the same period of the previous year, it added.
