Handicrafts Exports Up 19 Pc In May |
Handicrafts exports jumped 19 per cent to 183 million Dollars in May, according to official data. It is mainly due to the growing demand from the US and European markets.
In May last fiscal, the exports stood at 154 million US dollar. The US and Europe together account for about 60 per cent of the country's handicrafts exports. During April-May 2011-12, the handicrafts exports grew by 16 per cent to 388 million US dollar. Moradabad, Jaipur, Saharanpur, Jodhpur and Narsapur are the major handicraft hubs in India which cater to world markets employing one million people.
