eBay and PayPal to Help Sellers in India Export Goods |
eBay and PayPal announced an agreement with an Indian organization in which they will help businesses in India export their goods. eBay India and PayPal India signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), an apex body of Indian exporters set-up by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, in order to promote retail cross-border exports via ecommerce in India.
As part of the agreement, PayPal and eBay India along with the FIEO will conduct webinars, seminars and workshops to educate Indian exporters on tools, incentives and best practices for successfully conducting overseas trade via ecommerce.
Last year, PayPal was able to increase the limit exporters could receive into their PayPal accounts from $500 per transaction to $3,000 per transaction for the sale goods and services from international purchasers, a limitation set by the Reserve Bank of India.
In a blog post on Friday, PayPal wrote, "We have a shared vision with eBay India and FIEO to help Indian retail exporters go global and ultimately boost India's economic growth. We are working together to highlight the benefits of e-commerce for the Indian export sector and represent the challenges faced by retail online exporters with policy makers, relevant government bodies, and regulators."
