EU scrap exports in February surge by 30% YoY |
According to statistics, the 27 countries in the EU exported 1.73 million tons of scrap in February, rising by 30.4% year on year while decreasing by 28.7% from a month earlier.
In February, Turkey was the largest buyers of the EU’s scrap with 874,000 tonnes, up by 4.9%; India was the second largest one with 270,000 tonnes, surging substantially by 136.8%, both compared to that in the same period of the previous year.
In the first two months of this year, the EU’s scrap exports amounted to 4.157 million tonnes, surging by 50% year on year.
Accordingly, it’s estimated that the EU’s total scrap exports in the whole 2012 would reach 24.94 million tonnes.
