Subject: Export of oilmeals up by 17% between April'11- Jan'12

KOLKATA: The expoort of oilmeals during April 2011 to January 2012 is reported at 4,418,547 tonnes compared to 3,788,472 tonnes during the same period of last year - up by 17% thanks to better kharif soybean crop, fall in rupee and crushing parity that boosted processing and export of oilmeals, according to the Solvent Extractors' Association of India. The export of oilmeals in the month of January 2012 was reported at 549,716 tonnes as compared to 640,960 tonnes in January 2011.

Oilmeal imported by Japan from India during April 2011 to January 2012 has been reported at 1,067,207 tonnes as compared to 977,950 tonnes last year consisting of 1,037,699 tonnes of soybean meal and 29,508 tonnes of rapeseed meal. Vietnam imported 786,595 tonnes as compared to 659,013 tonnes last year consisting of 602,331 tonnes of soybean meal, 45,239 tonnes of rapeseed meal and entire quantity of 139,025 tonnes of ricebran extraction.

South Korea imported 609,883 tonnes compared to 462,836 tonnes of last year, consisting of 315,776 tonnes of rapeseed meal, 244,837 tonnes of castorseed meal and 49,270 tonnes of soybean meal. China imported 348,970 tonnes compared to 336,073 tonnes consisting 272,078 tonnes of rapeseed meal, 74,604 tonnes of soybean meal and 2,288 tonnes of groundnut meal. Europe an dothers have imported 259,568 tonnes compared to 221,303 tonnes in last year.
