New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): President of Mali, Amadou Toumani Toure today met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi and signed bilateral trade agreements.
The two countries signed an MoU on co-operation in the field of geology and mineral resources between the Ministry of Mines of the Government of India and Ministry of Mines of the Government of the Republic of Mali.
An agreement on issuance of 100 million US dollar credit for a power transmission project in Mali was also approved during the meet.
The two discussed various issues of mutual interest and the steps that need to be taken to enhance cooperation in the economic sphere.
Earlier in the day, Toure and his wife Toure Lobbo Traore received a red carpet welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Speaking on the occasion, Toure had hailed India for its contributions in the development of the African nation.
This is the first ever visit of President of Mali to India. Toure is accompanied by a high level ministerial and business delegation on the four-day visit.
India exports electricity transmission, cotton fabrics, cycle parts, machinery and machine parts, transport equipment, drugs and pharmaceuticals, and processed food items to Mali.
The African country also receives many soft loans from India for development of its industry, infrastructure and agriculture.
