India April Exports Up 34.4% on Year |
India's merchandise exports rose 34.4% to $23.85 billion in April from a year earlier, according to provisional data issued Wednesday by the Ministry of Commerce.
The government didn't give any reasons for the growth in exports.
Imports rose 14.13% to $32.83 billion, largely due to a rise in non-oil imports which were up 17.3% from a year earlier at $22.65 billion. Oil imports in April rose 7.7% to $10.19 billion.
India's April trade deficit narrowed to $8.98 billion from $11.03 billion a year earlier, the data showed.
