Trade between India and Chile is expected to touch $2.4 billion this year, Chile's ambassador Cristian Barros said Friday.
Barros made the comment on the sidelines of a programme organised by the Conferderation of Indian Industry (CII) here.
He said a commerce ministry delegation from Chile will come to India in two weeks and discuss with Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia a free trade agreement.
At present about 320 commodities were under preferential trade agreement between the two countries, Barros said, adding that it should go up to at least 5,000 in the coming years.
He said Chile was focusing on IT, engineering, mining and food sectors.
"We promote the IT sector in Chile, we have the best communication system in South America and a very good system of telecommunication," he said.
