India Coffee Exports Surge To 3 Lakh Tons |

Indian coffee exports have registered a surge to 3 lakh tons from the previous year’s 1, 95,068 tons with exports of value added coffee also going up.
Last year, the country earned 2,061 crore from coffee exports while in 2010-11, the exports have raked in Rs. 3,500 crore.
Coffee Board figures say that coffee production in the country has climbed by 3.2% to 2,99,000 tons, reported The Economic Times.
Arabica (trading at 4,600-4, 750 per 50 kg) production is estimated to lag behind 95,000 tons while robusta crop (trading at 2,425-2 ,525 per 50 kg) is pegged at 2,04,000 tons.
Brazil, Colombia production, meanwhile, have registered a decline due to weather anomalies.
Around 80% coffee production in India is shipped.
With production declining and demand soaring, India’s coffee exports may take a beating in the coming year as too high a price would reign in exports, it is assumed.
