India is Interested in Strengthening Trade with Venezuela |
The Indian government is interested in "strengthening" trade with Venezuela, said Chandra B. Thapliyal, India's Chargé d'Affaires in Venezuela.
According to the Indian diplomat, trade between the two countries is "considerably low," considering the size of their respective economies. Thapliyal said that India is buying Venezuelan products, particularly oil, amounting to USD 5 billion. "A significant amount, if we take into account the great distance between the two countries. Efforts have been made to increase trade," the diplomat acknowledged.
The official reported that India's exports to Venezuela barely totaled USD 213 million. He also said that the two economies can find opportunities to increase that figure.
