New Delhi: Trade between India and Malaysia in January-July, 2011, grew 36% year-on-year to $7.264 billion, and is expected to exceed $10 billion by the end of the year.
At a seminar organised by the Indian High Commission in Malaysia and the commerce ministry, Malaysia’s minister of International Trade & Industry YB Dato Sri Mustapa Mohammed said unlike Malaysia’s other bilateral FTAs, the Malaysia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement had a dedicated chapter to facilitate temporary entry of contractual service suppliers, independent professionals and business visitors from Malaysia into India.
“Malaysia has opened up an additional 17 services sub-sectors to foreign participation that will enable foreigners to own up to 100% of businesses in telecom, courier services, private hospitals, departmental services, accounting and legal services,” the Malaysian minster said.
