India's Exports Surge By 32% in January |
India's merchandise exports rose by 32.4% at US$28.5bn in January 2011 while imports climbed by 13.1% at US$28.6bn, data released by the Government showed on Tuesday.
As a result, the trade gap for the month under review stood at US$7.98bn versus US$9.71bn in the corresponding month last year.
Exports jumped by 29.3% at US$184.6bn in the April-January 2010-11 period while imports in the same period rose by 17.6% to US$273.6bn, the Commerce & Industry Ministry said in a statement today.
The trade deficit in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year stood at US$88.9 versus US$89.8bn in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the Commerce Ministry said.
