India''s Synthetic Rubber Consumption Up 12 pc in April, 2011 |
New Delhi, (PTI) The country''s synthetic rubber consumption rose by 12 per cent to 36,890 tonnes in April, 2011, while domestic production rose by almost 13 per cent to 9,262 tonnes in the same period, according to the Rubber Board.
Synthetic rubber demand and production stood at 32,815 tonnes and 8,180 tonnes, respectively, in the corresponding period of the previous year, the board''s data shows.
Production of Synthetic Rubber (SR) in the country amounted to 9,243 tonnes during March, 2011, while consumption stood at 36,025 tonnes during the same period. Synthetic rubber is mostly used in the manufacture of tyres in the country.
The auto tyre industry alone consumed 27,650 tonnes of the produce in April, 2011, 20 per cent higher than its consumption of 23,037 tonnes in the year-ago period.
India''s synthetic rubber imports rose by 8 per cent in April, 2011, to 27,868 tonnes from 25,885 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The total stock of synthetic rubber in the country at the end of April, 2011, stood at 36,400 tonnes.
