Indian appointed President of Inter-Pacific Bar Association.

New Delhi, Mar 4 (PTI) Indian business lawyer Lalit Bhasin has been appointed as President of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), an association of business lawyers in the Asia Pacific region. His appointment was announced at the 22nd IPBA Annual Conference which concluded here today. Bhasin will now take over the responsibilities from Shiro Kuniya of Japan. Commenting on his appointment, Bhasin in a press release said, "My vision is to unite the legal fraternity all over the world and to evolve consensus to protect life and liberty of the citizens of the world." "I would strive for greater economic cooperation among the countries. Proper and prompt legal support is required in order to achieve the same and IPBA stands for promoting these activities," he added. Bhasin is currently the President of the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF), the Vice-President of the Bar Association of India, and is also the Chairperson of the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal of India. He is also the Chairman of the Services Export Promotion Council established by the Ministry of Commerce and a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.
