Iron Ore Exports From Karnataka May Resume Within 15 Days |
The iron ore exports from state is expected to restart within 15 days time, said, H R Srinivasa, Karnataka's Department of Mines Director.
This statement came on the sidelines of a conference on iron ore. The state makes up for nearly one-fourth of the net iron ore export from India . In July 2010, the state had imposed restriction on the transportation of the mineral for exports purposes from the state.
But, after an order of the Apex Court on April 5, the state government had decided to lift the ban and had asked for 15-days time to up the needed infrastructure to control illegal mining in the state. The state government had initially banned all the mining operations in May so that the Supreme Court directed survey and demarcation (S&D) activities can be carried.
