Maruti posts 53% fall in October Sales on Labour Unrest |
India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki saw a 53.2 per cent decline in its sales in October.
Maruti sold 55,595 units in October against 1,18,908 units during the same month last year. This includes 4,137 units for export.
The labour unrest at company’s Manesar plant during October 2011 adversely impacted the production and sales numbers. The company lost production of over 40,000 units (Gurgaon and Manesar) in the month.
Segment-wise sales saw a total of 41,192 passenger vehicles down 55.1 per cent from 91,754 units in the corresponding period last year. While exports were down 63.6 per cent year on year, domestic sales were down 52.2 per cent to 51,458 units.
