New Zealand Premier On India Visit To Boost Trade Ties |
New Delhi - New Zealand Prime Minister John Key on Sunday begins a five-day visit to India aimed at bolstering trade ties.
Key, accompanied by a delegation that includes Trade Minister Tim Groser, will meet with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for talks focused on finalizing a free trade agreement.
The key official engagements are scheduled for Tuesday, an Indian Foreign Ministry official said, when Key will meet with President Pratibha Patil and address a business session organized by industry chambers.
'The trade potential of the India market is huge and we have set a target of growing two-way trade from 1.28 billion New Zealand dollars (1.03 billion dollars) to 3 billion dollars by 2014,' Key was quoted as saying by the IANS news agency, before leaving for India.
One of New Zealand's top trade priorities is to negotiate a free trade agreement with India, Key said. 'This will help expand businesses, create jobs and result in a stronger New Zealand economy.'
Key is also scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal and Mumbai.
