No Cut in Argentine Soya Oil Imports |
India, the top buyer of Argentina's soya oil, is not planning to reduce orders despite warnings Argentine import curbs on Indian goods could hit trade in the edible oil, an Indian official said on Tuesday.
India replaced China as the No 1 importer of Argentine soya oil a year ago when Beijing halted imports in retaliation for Argentine import curbs.
India's ambassador warned earlier this year that the purchase of Argentine soya oil could be affected by Buenos Aires' decision to increase curbs on the import of manufactured goods from countries including India. However, asked if India was considering reducing imports as a retaliatory measure, junior trade minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said he saw no direct threat of that happening.
