Rupee Down 15 Paise Against US dollar in Early Trade |
The Indian rupee fell by 15 paise to Rs 51.05 per US dollar in early trade on Friday amid heavy outflows of foreign funds from the stock market and rising demand from oil refiners. The rupee has been on a four-session losing streak and closed 16 paise lower at Rs 50.90/91 per US dollar in Thursday's trade.
Forex dealers said a lower opening in the stock market, demand for the greenback from importers and dollar gains against other Asian currencies overseas mainly influenced the rupee sentiment.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex index declined by 128.62 points, or 0.78 %, to 16,333.09 in opening trade on Friday.
